Sam Collins is an Irish International Chess Master. Sam won the Irish Chess Championship in 2002 and in 2014, he also won the Japanese Chess Championship in 2009. Collins represented Ireland at a number of Chess Olympiads, first in Istambul in 2000, then in Bled in 2002 he won a Gold Medal. In 2004 in Calvia, Spain, he gained the title of International Master.〔(Sam Collins ) www.icu.ie〕 Sam went to secondary school in Gonzaga College, in Dublin, and plays for Gonzaga Chess Club in the Leinster Leagues and was part of the 2015 Armstrong Cup winning team. Following school Sam studied for a Law degree at University College Dublin, before being called to the bar.
